5 Common Noises Your A/C Makes When Something Is Wrong
You go to turn on your air conditioner to cool the house down and expect all is well.
But, wait. Did you hear that noise? What could it be? Is it broken?
In today’s post, we’re going to cover 5 of the most common noises you might hear from your a/c that may require a call to the pros at Troutman Heat & Air.
Buzzing - Most often, you’ll hear a buzzing noise from your a/c unit when something is going on with the electrical wiring in your system.
Humming - When you hear a humming noise coming from your unit, this is typically a noise that comes from the fan. Most likely, it’s just collected some dust and dirt and needs a quick clean-off to rid the noise. However, there are times when it could mean your fan motor is in need of repair. Try cleaning it off to see if the noise goes away, if not, call in the pros to handle the job.
Clicking - Clicking in your a/c unit usually has to do with either your thermostat or an electrical wiring issue. If it’s constant, go ahead and have it looked at to be sure nothing more is wrong that needs serious attention ASAP.
Banging - Your a/c unit may make a loud banging noise when it's been thrown off balance, or a piston pin could be broken inside your compressor.
Squealing - Squealing noises could mean you’re looking at a failing blower fan or belt.
